Meet Amy

My husband, Mark, and I, moved here nearly 30 years ago so that our sons, Ari and Jack, could attend the excellent public schools in Manhattan Beach. They are now grown and flown, and we still love living here with our 75-pound lapdog, Juno. 

Before moving to Manhattan Beach, I was the original Photo Editor for Wired Magazine, a role that shaped my forward-thinking approach to leadership. 

I grew up in the small town of Coshocton, Ohio, where my dad owned a bar. He taught me that every single person in that bar had a story that mattered and that  I should listen. 

Manhattan Beach is different from my rural Ohio hometown but they both share a strong sense of community. I’m proud that I’ve been a part of the fabric of this community, first serving as a School Board member and then as a City Council member.

20 years later, I’m still inspired to serve.

It’s the people who make me want to serve.
It’s the neighbors.
It’s our schools.
It’s the small businesses who have been here for decades.
It’s the Hometown Fair.
It’s the Pumpkin Races.
It’s the Holiday Fireworks. 

I am proud to be a part of this legacy and I will continue to work hard to preserve it.
